Fallen Wing
Episode Fifteen: Forest of Illusion
[Scene opens to bird’s eye view of a forest, smaller than Malhand but with taller, slimmer trees. Scene changes to in woods to see trees in more detail, trunk so slim they shouldn’t be able to hold tree up. Has a slight eery mist on ground, all is quiet, no animals in sight.]
Narrator: Those defending their home, their very existence, are beyond fierce. Those unfortunate to be trapped in those defences, will suffer in ways they fear to dread.
[Change to edge of woods (inside looking out) as group walks into view, peering into woods.]
Nat [sarcastic]: Well, doesn’t this look welcoming.
[Nevan/Laurel front view, expression worried.]
Narrator: Trapped to relive the most painful moments you’ve long buried.
[Nevan front view as it blurs, then clears to a younger Nevan front view (aged nine), gazing around in wonder. Early morning, sky still partly dark. Pan out so a further away Nevan/Cedron front view (Cedron pulling a cart) able to see Firo archway entrance behind them (have just entered the town).]
Nevan: Whoa, this is Firo? It’s so pretty.
[Cedron front view who raises an eyebrow at Nevan (out of view to left).]
Cedron: You live in Haven castle and you find this impressive?
[Nevan front view who smiles up at Cedron.]
Nevan: It’s so warm here.
[Nevan back view gazing around at traders. Pan to side to see Cedron watching him. Cedron side view, gazing at Nevan fondly. Suddenly frowns and looks forward again. Nevan/Cedron front view as both stare at someone, Cedron weary, Nevan curious. Nevan/Cedron back view to see Firo approaching, expression distant, as though deep in thought. Firo/Cedron /Nevan side view (Nevan behind Cedron).]
Firo: You’re still angry?
[Nevan front view, who looks from Firo to Cedron, puzzled.]
Cedron [sighs]: I wish I could be, but I know it wasn’t really your actions, it was Ignatius.
[Cedron/Nevan back view as Firo gives a melancholy smile (looking down) as his left hand raises up to show two fire symbol necklaces.]
Firo: Then you can truly hate me for this.
[Cedron front view who frowns, confused. Cedron back view.]
Firo: Do you remember when I said I can see tattoos on certain people? People who are meant to do something important? I’ve made necklace replicas so they’ll know it too.
[Cedron front view who frowns.]
Cedron: You already told me I don’t have one.
[Pan out a bit so a Nevan front view too as Cedron looks around at him then back at Firo, glaring.]
Cedron: Not-
[Firo front view.]
Firo: No, not him. One’s to be delivered to his little sister…
[Nevan front view who looks confused/worried.]
Nevan: Elle? But she’s only four, she can’t do anything important.
[Firo front view who smiles sadly, change to Firo/Nevan side view as Firo moves closer and kneels in front of him on one knee, so eye to eye.]
Firo: It doesn’t mean now, it could be a few years, or when she’s older than your dad is now.
Nevan: Will it be something dangerous?
[Firo frowns and closes eyes. Nevan back view to see Firo’s look of concentration, then his features slacken as he opens eyes, in a trance-like state.]
Firo: Yes, it will be very dangerous, and she’ll never be the same after.
[Firo back view to see shock/fear on Nevan’s face. Cedron front view who growls and grabs Firo’s shoulder.]
Cedron: Hey!
[Firo front view who gives him a piercing glare. Firo back view as Cedron lets go, shocked. Firo turns back to Nevan.]
Firo: She’ll be scared, but you’ll both have a choice. You can try and take her place.
[Nevan’s face looks hopeful.]
Nevan: Really?
[Close Firo side view, face serious.]
Firo: Yes, but it will kill you.
[Nevan front view to show shock. Cedron front view to see him turn pale. Firo back view, few seconds of silence.]
Nevan [quietly]: Would it kill Elle?
[Firo close face side view who frowns, unsure.]
Firo: I don’t know. She may just be different after, or she may die. It’s not as certain as your outcome is. If you let things run its natural course, she may live.
[Nevan close face side view.]
Nevan: But she may die.
[Firo/Nevan side view as Firo nods.]
Firo: I’m sorry; maybe I shouldn’t have said anything. But I had a little sister once, and if I’d had the chance to save her, I’d have wanted to know.
[Firo back view/Nevan/Cedron front view.]
Cedron: I think you’ve said enough.
[Firo/Nevan/Cedron side view as Firo stands back up, holding out necklaces to Cedron, who grimaces. Firo front view.]
Firo: Whether you take them or not makes no difference. It will still happen. One is for Elle, the other I need you to deliver.
[Side view again as Cedron reluctantly takes them (Nevan stands back up, looking dazed/upset). Firo front view, looking sad.]
Firo: I really am sorry.
[Opening credits.]
[Opens to group front view (present day), still near edge of forest.]
Nat: So, this place messes with your head?
[Asha nods.]
Asha: It’s different for everyone, but it produces hallucinations to ward off any travellers. With my Anellan eyes I’m immune. Fern’s ability means she’ll be unaffected too.
Nat: So the plan is for you two to lead us through the forest to find the entrance to the elf city?
Nevan [looks uneasy]: Firo said to head for the centre and look for a tree with an X marked on it. We need to pull a low branch on it to open the entrance. We’re relying on you two.
Fern [teasing]: Maybe we should tie everyone together so they don’t wander off.
Asha [serious]: That’s not a bad idea. We can take two each; make it more manageable.
[Fern looks at her and nods. Screen goes black a second then opens to group back view, now tied together by waist (with some rope length between them). Asha has Agape and Nevan (left of screen) and Fern has Nat and Laurel (right of screen). Change to group side view (Fern’s group closest to screen).]
Fern: Right, here we go.
Nevan: Wait.
[Nevan/Agape/Asha side view as Nevan holds out weapon piece and pole to Asha.]
Nevan: You should take our weapons.
[Asha stares at him, then nods, taking weapons and immortal piece. Side view of Laurel/Nat/Fern as Laurel does the same with Fern (Laurel’s weapon still in two parts, but boomerang fixed). Group front view as enter forest. Far group side view to show woods as they take a few steps inside. Fern front view to see Nat and Laurel cringe behind her, but still keep walking. Asha front view as she looks back at Agape/Nevan (also cringing).]
Asha: Are you okay?
Nevan: It’s manageable for now. Just impersonal, spooky visions.
[Asha nods and turns back round, still walking.]
[Change to bird’s eye view of group. Camera pans out higher (up a tree) till see a figure clutching casually onto a tree trunk. Figure front view to see it’s an earth immortal woman with a bob shaped hairstyle (brown hair) and veins close/visible through her skin. Wearing a mischievous smile.]
Earth immortal: Looks like they’ve arrived. An hour of weak illusions should have made their guard drop. Let’s have some fun.
[Closes eyes in concentration, glowing slightly.]
[Close side view of Fern, camera stays as she keeps walking until on Nat, who cringes suddenly and stops walking. Fern front view as she’s jerked to a stop (can see Laurel stopped before he would have banged into Nat). Fern turns around to face Nat.]
Fern: Nat? What’s wrong?
[Nat front view who’s breathing heavily in terror. Nat’s point of view as Fern warps away and becomes Earl, hovering over him, dark magic directed at Nat/screen.]
Earl vision: You can’t resist, Nathan. It’s who you are; and you kill every last person you care about. Here, let me give you a little push.
[Nat/Earl side view as black cloud engulfs Nat, making him scream in pain. Scene shifts to Fern back view who is staring at Nat, screaming at nothing. Close up of Nat’s hair to see white streaks beginning to turn red.]
Fern [panicked, drawing her sword]: Nat! Calm down!
[Hear another scream of agony coming from Laurel. Pan closer to see he’s clutching at face/old eye injury.]
Laurel: I’m sorry, Fern! I’m so sorry!
[Fern front view, scared and confused. Change to wolf side view running through the forest, panting. Lifts head as runs and howls. Back to Fern front view who’s head turns sharply to her left (right of screen) at the noise. Fern back view as the wolf collides into Nat, knocking him to ground. Fern and Laurel are also dragged down because of the rope. Nat/wolf side view to see Nat open eyes, aware again, with hair streaks fading back to white. Turns head and glares angrily up at wolf (still on top of him).]
Nat: Where the hell have you been?
[Change to Nat/wolf front bird’s eye view as Fern comes closer to them (now sitting up) from screen right and starts stroking the wolf.]
Fern: Oh, good boy! You really helped us this time.
[Hear a pained scream from Laurel, making them all look to the left. Camera goes a little higher so Laurel is included, who is still clutching at face, sobbing.]
Fern: I guess the wolf can’t help him, huh?
[Nat turns to look behind him, face solemn.]
Nat: He’s not the only one.
[Nat front view (still looking behind him) as camera zooms closer, going past him until reaches the other group (side view). Both Agape and Nevan are crouched down on floor, Agape in fetal position, while Nevan stares blankly ahead. Asha is watching them, concerned. Close side view of Agape, who is rocking slightly. Scene fades around him until it’s the ocean, and he’s in his merperson form, around him are broken eggs and dead merpeople, eyes open in agony.]
Agape: Please don’t leave me all alone! Please!
[Back to Asha back view who bends down, trying to hold Agape in a loose hug. Agape back view/Asha front view as she looks up at camera/Nevan. Camera pan out a bit until a Nevan back view. Nevan front view to see staring blankly ahead. Zoom closer to his face. Scene dissolves into a young Nevan front view (aged twelve) who is smiling eagerly, looking up.]
Young Nevan: You’re really taking me with you?
[Nevan back view to see Cedron gazing down at him, amused. They are in Haven, castle entrance in background.]
Cedron: Why so surprised? The last trip was too dangerous to take you on, but this should be fairly simple. We’ll be gone a while, so-
Nevan: I’ll go ask.
[Spins around and runs off towards castle entrance. Cedron chuckles, then expression grows dark and he sighs.]
Cedron [thoughts]: I’m sorry Nevan, but I’m running out of time.
[Pulls out fire symbol necklace and looks at it.]
Cedron [thoughts]: Time to give this to Elle.
[Scene change to a lavish bedroom with Nevan’s mother in bed (side view), Marcius sat beside it (facing screen) watching her sleep. Looks up when hears sound of the door opening (behind camera). Change to Nevan front view as he enters room, smile falls from face as he sees his mum.]
Nevan: Mother? I thought you were feeling better.
[Nevan back view as mother turns her head to face him, giving a weak smile.]
Mother: Hi, sweetheart. I’m just a little tired, that’s all.
[Nevan front view, who looks sceptical, but nods. Nevan back view as Marcius smiles at him.]
Marcius: Was there something you needed, Nevan?
[Marcius back view as Nevan looks away, uncomfortable/embarrassed.]
Nevan: Dad’s here, he wants me to come on another trading trip.
[Nevan back view as Marcius shares a look with Mother, concerned. Mother just smiles and nods.]
Mother: It will be better this way.
[Marcius looks back at Nevan and gives a weak smile.]
Marcius: Could you tell your father to come here? Your mother wants to talk to him.
[Nevan front view who nods, looking crushed. Takes a step back. Scene blurs a little and changes, so Cedron is now standing in Nevan’s place, looking pale/shocked. Cedron back view as Marcius gives him a weak smile and stands up, moving around the bed and towards Cedron/door.]
Marcius: I’ll go help Nevan pack.
[Cedron front view as Marcius exits the room. Cedron takes a step forward. Change to Cedron/Mother side view as he moves to stand next to the bed.]
Cedron: Elena.
[Mother front view who smiles serenely.]
Mother/Elena: Nevan’s a smart boy; I think he already knows this time is different. Help him through this, okay? I won’t be here when he returns.
[Cedron/Elena side view to see Cedron’s pained look.]
Cedron: This is cruel, taking him from you now, for both of you. I can delay the trip until…
[Trails off, head down. Elena front view who raises an eyebrow in amusement.]
Elena: Waiting for me to die? No. I’d rather he was spared that. Elle and Marcius will already suffer through it.
[Cedron/Elena side view. Cedron sighs and looks up.]
Cedron: I’m sorry, Elena. I need him on this trip. More than anything.
[Close Elena side view as she closes her eyes in pain.]
Elena: My poor boy; I’d hoped his life would have been an easier path. [Turns head and smiles at Cedron/camera] But he’s too much like his father for that.
[Cedron front view, melancholy/guilty look. Elena front view who closes eyes briefly.]
Elena: Thank you for everything, Cedron. I’m so glad I met you.
[Scene change to Nevan back view, who is packing a bag in his room (still in his more formal clothes), sniffing/sobbing. Hear the sound of a door opening and then Marcius walks in front of camera (back view), watching Nevan. Nevan front view, tears down his face, as Marcius places a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
Marcius [quietly]: I don’t want to leave her. Don’t make me leave.
[Marcius sighs, looking pained as he uses both hands to make Nevan turn. Nevan/Marcius side view as Marcius bends down so eye level with Nevan.]
Marcius: There’s nothing we can do for her now Nevan. All we can do is respect her wishes, and she doesn’t want you to wait here just to watch her die.
[Marcius back view to see new tears run down Nevan’s face.]
Nevan: But you and Elle get to stay.
[Nevan back view.]
Marcius: Elle doesn’t know what’s happening yet, it gives your mother comfort. And I’m here for the moments she can’t be as strong.
[Marcius back view as Nevan nods, but doesn’t look convinced.]
Nevan [thoughts]: He’s lying. They don’t want me here because I’m not a real part of the family. They’re sending me away with Dad so she can be happy before…
[Nevan’s point of view, vision blurred as gazes up at Marcius’ earnest face. Marcius back view.]
Nevan [thoughts]: But if that’s what she wants.
[Scene change to back in forest, Nevan back view so can see Asha gazing worriedly at him. She reaches out to pat him gently on shoulder.]
Asha: Nevan? Are you okay to keep walking?
[Asha back view as Nevan starts walking without any acknowledgement of Asha. Asha quickly bends and grabs Agape (who instinctively clutches onto her), straightening back up and following before the rope can disrupt Nevan. Fern/Nat front view (still on ground), who are watching them (off screen, beyond camera), confused/worried.]
Fern: I don’t know if that’s better than Laurel or not.
[Nat shrugs.]
Nat: Who knows. All we can do is get through this forest as quickly as possible.
[Nevan front view as blurs back into younger Nevan view. Nevan is walking along, eyes red and face solemn. Pan to right for a Cedron front view, who’s looking at him, worried. Background is field type landscape.]
Cedron: We’ll have to enter the tunnels soon.
[Nevan front view as he looks up, surprised.]
Nevan: You finished them?
[Cedron/Nevan front view.]
Cedron: Only one route, we’ll need more before they can be used effectively, but it’s enough for this trip.
Nevan: Used for what?
[Cedron stops walking and looks at Nevan, searching. Cedron front view as he sighs and kneels down. Nevan back view as Cedron puts both hands on either of Nevan’s shoulders.]
Cedron: Nevan, I have something important to tell you on this trip about my work. I want you to listen, and then decide if you want to be a part of it too. It’s fine if you say no, but I need an answer, okay?
[Cedron back view.]
Nevan: What?
[Nevan back view, Cedron clasps his hands on his shoulders and releases him, standing up.]
Cedron: I’ll explain once we’re in Carmina. Come on.
[Scene fades away as they both begin moving again. Becomes scene in forest. Asha/Agape front view (Agape still clinging to her) Nevan still following in zombie state. Change to Nat front view (wolf beside him, right of screen), who has his eyes closed while walking. Can see Fern beside (other side) partly behind him, guiding a pale and tormented Laurel.]
Fern: Nat, are you okay?
[Nat opens eyes, face peaceful.]
Nat [dreamy]: Yeah, I was just trying to read the forest and see if I could convince it to stop the illusions.
Fern: Oh, okay. Any luck?
Nat: This place is so old it would take months for it to acknowledge me, let alone communicate. Plus I don’t think the forest is responsible for the illusions, someone else fuels the magic.
Fern: One of the elves?
Nat [opens eyes]: Yeah, probably, or more than one. Either way, we have to reach them before the illusions would stop.
Fern [sighs]: Well, it can’t be helped. I didn’t realise you could talk to the forest before; I thought it was just animals.
Nat [frowns]: It’s not talking the way humans do, it’s more like sensing each other and some basic emotions. Like if there’s a threat.
Fern [look of understanding on face]: So when you attack with earth magic, you’re communicating with the forest, and that’s why it doesn’t work outside of one?
Nat: Yeah, that’s the easiest way to explain it.
[Nat suddenly looks up at trees and tenses. Fern follows his gaze and curses, readying Laurel’s weapon is attack position. Nat/Fern/Laurel back view, camera pans up to show Earth immortal sat in tree, giggling and swinging legs happily.]
Earth immortal: Hello there, where are you headed? Visitors aren’t allowed here, you know.
[Group front view (including Asha’s group) as Asha steps forward, trying to give a reassuring smile.]
Asha: Firo sent us here to meet the elf named Dagan.
[Earth immortal smiles at her and tuts.]
Earth immortal: Firo knows better than to send someone alone.
[Asha front view as she pulls out weapon piece, holding it up (looking slightly ominous). Earth immortal front view as she flinches and stands up on branch, alert.]
Earth immortal [thoughts]: Maybe messing with these people wasn’t such a clever idea.
Earth immortal: I see, in that case I won’t stop you. Let Firo know Zara was a good girl and let you pass, okay?
[Group front view as Asha nods, putting weapon piece away as group begin to move forward.
[Scene fades away into a young Nevan front view, looking ahead, listening. Nevan back view to see in old woman’s house in Carmina, with her staring at him, smiling (face cloaked).]
Woman/Neve: So this is your son? Oh yes, he’s perfect to succeed you.
[Nevan front view who looks confused, gazing up at Cedron (off screen left), camera pans over to Cedron who sighs.]
Cedron: Nevan, do you know anything about the King?
[Woman back view so can see both Cedron and Nevan. Nevan frowns at his father.]
Nevan: Mum said he has very dark magic, so everyone is afraid of him. She thinks he’s cruel, but Grandfather says that’s the way a King should be.
[Cedron front view as his expression darkens.]
Cedron: Yes, he would say that, he’s almost as bad.
[Nevan front view, who looks shocked. Cedron/Nevan front view as Cedron knelts down so eye to eye (now side view of both).]
Cedron: The King is very dangerous, Nevan. His reign has been even worse than his fathers. And he has a dangerous ambition; one I think your grandfather shares. There…there are people who stand against them, wanting to overthrow them and start anew.
[Cedron back view as Nevan pales.]
Nevan: Y-you’re part of the resistance?
[Nevan back view to see Cedron’s serious face.]
Cedron: No, Nevan. I’m its leader.
[Close Nevan side view to see him reel back in shock.]
Nevan: But Grandfather-
[Nevan back view.]
Cedron: Just because you’re blood related doesn’t make him a good person. But your grandfather isn’t our main target, it’s the King.
[Cedron back view.]
Nevan: Why are you telling me this?
[Nevan back view as Cedron looks uncertain, but then sighs and stares Nevan in eyes.]
Cedron: They’re starting to see me as a threat, so…I wanted to make sure someone would continue my work if the worse happens.
[Close Nevan side view, face blank.]
Nevan: You want me to go against the King? And Grandfather? What about Mum and Marcius? What about Elle? Won’t they suffer?
[Nevan back view.]
Cedron: Nevan, they already are. This is the only way to help them.
[Nevan front view.]
Nevan [thoughts]: Is this the path Elle will walk one day? Can I spare her from it if I say yes?
[Nevan back view as Cedron awkwardly pats him on his shoulder and stands up.]
Cedron: You don’t have to decide right away. I’ll explain everything to you first.
[Change to Neve back view as Nevan stands up. Nevan and Cedron turn to face her as she talks.]
Neve: Whatever your decision, you should know, your life will not be easy. You will suffer, but you will also be a part of the greatest change this realm will know. Remember that, when you are close to breaking.
[Nevan front view, looking blank as scene fades away. Change to black screen but hear Cedron’s voice.]
Cedron: So, what do you think?
[Young Nevan front view, looking uncertain, now in resistance’s hideout.]
Nevan: I’m not sure.
[Nevan back view so can see Cedron, a younger Darrel stood next to him (right of screen). Cedron sighs.]
Cedron: Your magic would be a great advantage to us. You can heal now, right?
[Nevan front view as he nods, still looking uneasy. Nevan back view as Darrel scoffs at him.]
Darrel: Look, I know he’s your son, but we don’t need anyone not dedicated to the resistance. Don’t drag him into this if he isn’t willing to die for it.
[Cedron nods solemnly. Brief white flash. Scene change to Nevan side view as he exits tunnel near back of Carmina. Cedron follows.]
Cedron: Impressive, right? Eventually, I want two entrance and exits into the hideout, but this will do for now.
[Soldier back view (who has been watching them beyond camera) as he speaks, startling the two.]
Soldier: How interesting, but your little hideout isn’t going to be needed anymore.
[Cedron and Nevan turn to face him. Cedron/Nevan back view as soldier steps forward, sword raised in guard position.]
Solider: You’ve drawn too much attention to yourself; I’ll end you here.
[Change to close view of a hidden soldier (high up on wall) with a cocked bow as he releases arrow. Nevan/Cedron side view so can see arrow heading towards Cedron. Cedron doesn’t notice, but Nevan looks up at it and turns to face it.]
Nevan [alarmed]: Dad!
[Brief Cedron side view as he turns towards arrow in shock. Cedron back view as arrow hits an invisible barrier in front of Cedron and bounces off onto floor. Cedron front view as he turns to face Nevan, who has hands locked together in front of him and a concentrating frown on face.]
Cedron: Nevan.
[Nevan back view/Cedron front view as soldier charges at them, his sword hitting a barrier. Cedron jumps round to face him, frowning as he draws his sword.]
Cedron: It’s okay now Nevan, let me handle this.
[Barrier drops away and Cedron parries the soldier. Exchange a few blows then Cedron knocks man’s sword out of hand and stabs him through the chest. Close soldier face view to show shock/pain, then eyes go dim. Back view as he collapses on floor. Nevan front view who sighs in relief but then an arrow hits him in the arm, making him look and pale in shock. Cedron front view as he sees and look of terror crosses face.]
Cedron: Nevan!
[Front view of bowman as releases another arrow. Cedron back view to see him reach Nevan and bat arrow away using sword (aimed at Cedron’s chest) with a growl. Bowman front view as he stands and slips away back into safety of city. Cedron back view who turns attention back to Nevan, picking him up and dashing back into the hideout (Nevan now in state of shock).]
[Scene change to Darrel back view as Cedron enters, carrying Nevan bridal style. Darrel front view.]
Darrel: Wh-
[Darrel back view as Cedron interrupts, forcing Darrel to take Nevan.]
Cedron: Soldiers ambushed us. I killed one but the other got away. I need you to move the body and scrub the area before more soldiers come. I’ll go after the other one and stop him before he gives away our location.
[Cedron walks past him, Darrel turns to face him (now front view, Cedron off screen).]
Darrel: That’s suicide! You’ll never escape killing a soldier in the middle of town!
[Cedron front view (can see Darrel behind him) as he pauses and turns back round, moving back to Nevan and placing a hand on the side of his face. Cedron close face view to see sorrow-filled expression. Darrel/Nevan/Cedron side view (Darrel/Nevan left, Cedron right).]
Cedron: I’m sorry Nevan. I’ll fix this, and then you can go back to your normal life.
[Cedron back view as Nevan looks at him, (shivering from shock) pale and scared.]
Nevan: Dad, don’t go.
[Back to side view as Cedron gives a sad smile then removes hand, turning and trotting away. Nevan front view, heartbroken.]
Narrator: These painful moments that defined us, placed us on our path, can never be forgotten.
[Scene change to Cedron back view running through Carmina, chasing the bowman, who looks back, startled. Cedron side view as he aims and throws his sword. Bowman back view as it hits him in the back, piercing through him. Side view as he falls to floor, dead. Cedron back view to see soldiers beyond dead body (four running towards him). Cedron front view, panting, can see two other soldiers behind one. One kicks him in the back, making him fall to knees. Cedron front view to see other soldier raising sword, ready to bring it down.]
Narrator: Moments when all our doubts vanish, all other choices disappear.
Solider [One of the four]: Wait.
[Soldier with sword back view as he stops, waiting for other soldiers to reach them. Cedron starts to struggle, but is restrained.]
Soldier: The King is due to arrive soon. He’ll want to condemn the resistance nuisance himself.
[Scene change to Nevan/Darrel front view standing amongst a crowd in Carmina square, wearing cloaks. Nevan is pale.]
Narrator: And suddenly we lead a life we had never even considered before. A belief we hadn’t noticed becomes our whole reason for being.
[Front view of a hanging platform, Cedron with a rope around neck. Earl is stood to right side of platform, smirking. He signals and the executioner releases the lever. Back view as Cedron drops down and neck breaks. Nevan front view, face blank.]
Narrator: With no turning back.
[Scene change to present, Nevan front view as eyes lose glossy look and he blinks, then leans over (out of view). Can hear him throwing up. Asha back view as she spins around in surprise.]
Asha: Nevan, are you okay?
[Asha back view (so can see Nevan) as he straightens up, pale but aware.]
Nevan: Yeah, I think.
[Laurel front view, who also loses glossy eyed look, but doesn’t say anything. Group back view, pan out a little to see an elf figure watching them.]
Elf: Welcome, we’ve been expecting you.
[Group spin around. Elf front view as he smiles.]
Elf: I am Lance. Welcome to the centre of the forest.
[Ending Credits.]
[Episode preview.]
Omake/Extra: Randomness.
[Screen black, title reads ‘Our new slaves’.]
Scene near edge of forest, group front view.]
Fern [teasing]: Maybe we should tie everyone together so they don’t wander off.
Asha [serious]: That’s not a bad idea; they can be our new slaves, forced to work for scraps of food.
[Fern sweat drop.]
Fern: Erm, isn’t that a little extreme?
[Screen black, title reads ‘Laurel’s nightmare’.]
[Nat back view/Fern front view. Hear another scream of agony coming from Laurel, pan closer to him to see he’s clutching at face/old eye injury.]
Laurel: I’m sorry Fern! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to ruin your favourite skirt!
[Fern back view who sweatdrops.]
Fern: I’m his worst nightmare?
[Nat front view, frowning.]
Nat: What was he doing with your skirt?
[Screen black, title reads ‘Nevan’s role’.]
[In Neve’s house. Nevan back view to see Cedron’s serious face.]
Cedron: No, Nevan. I’m its leader.
[Close Nevan side view to see him reel back in shock.]
Nevan: But Grandfather-
[Nevan back view.]
Cedron: Just because you’re blood related doesn’t mean he’s a good person. But it does mean you live together!
[Side view of both as Cedron grips Nevan’s shoulders enthusiastically.]
Cedron: You’re the perfect person to assassinate him and rid the resistance of him forever!
[Nevan reels back again in disbelief.]
Nevan: You can’t be serious! I’d be kicked out the castle. I’d rather live with Grandfather there than underground with you!
[Cedron does anime fall.]
Cedron [sob]: Nevan…
[End]
