Been a hectic day (broken boiler, leaking roof, all the fun of being a homeowner) so haven’t got much today. Just the start of a poem I scribbled at work: Eternal rest upon a lonely cliff, overlooking all who live on without you. If there are any Final Fantasy XIV players here, it’s based allContinue reading “Poem idea/start”

Walrus dream poem (rough draft)
Left outside, shunned and forgotten, is a sphere-shaped walrus, a globe spinning with no control. Rain trickles down its smooth surface, cold stinging skin, liquid watering eyes, as stumpy arms fail to thwart it. Lights from inside reflect on its skin, a warmth so close but unfelt. A man stands out of reach, watching theContinue reading “Walrus dream poem (rough draft)”
Old short story
I wrote this short story over ten years ago and found it recently. It’s so random but for some reason I still want to expand it or reform it somehow. Dragon’s Eye The field was beyond the fierce glow of the high sun, but I knew it was there. I could picture it inContinue reading “Old short story”
Walrus poem idea
A few months ago I saw this round animal video on youtube and loved it. Then sometime afterwards I had a dream that I was a round walrus, outside in my back garden in the rain with two English bulldogs called Terra and Gaia (they weren’t round). My husband was inside saying ‘No you can’tContinue reading “Walrus poem idea”
Handsome & the Dog (incomplete poem)
She refused to marry the sorcerer and so he cursed her household. Time couldn’t touch it, but neither could they be seen, just ghostly whispers haunting the dark corridors. She was transformed into a beast, left for all visitors to see. ‘Until someone says they love you, to that face, you will remain ugly.’ TimeContinue reading “Handsome & the Dog (incomplete poem)”
Instructions for Rapunzel’s brothel (poem incomplete)
The instructions are simple, she will be waiting in the tower, grateful for the company (any company), ready to give herself to you. Call to her from the bottom, she will transform her maiden hair into a ladder, for the chance of ending her isolation. That desperation will blind her from the pain as youContinue reading “Instructions for Rapunzel’s brothel (poem incomplete)”
Fragile Potential
Anxiety, temper, buttons. Push, push, push. One more push and it will shatter. This fragile potential you won’t acknowledge as more. Trust is there, but it’s new, unfamiliar. Test it too much and watch it disappear.
Top club
Tap, slip, poke, shove, guide it to the goal and feel the rush of victory.
Absent
A weary head leans to the left for a shoulder that’s not there to support it. Life and distance separates them. But distractions are absent, and the head now mourns for the shoulder it took for granted and let slip away.
Patience
Poke and bang at iron layers. Bashing and grunting to see beneath. Questions and theories to stab and pierce, instead of coaxing and gentle peeling. Any progress made is slammed shut, with a new layer of iron underneath your fingers.
