Fallen Wing
Episode seven: Choices
[Scene opens to Emlin Way before destroyed. While seeing town hear narrator’s voice over.]
Narrator: Memories are precious, allowing us to remember people and places no longer here. Even if one person forgets, that memory lives on in another.
[See centre of town bustling with trade, people happy but most are armed with swords/axes/daggers, even women and older children. See side view of a training ground with a man in his late thirties sparring one-by-one with a line of young men/women, correcting postures etc. Pan out to sidelines of training ground to see Fern (twelve years old) leaning against a tree, watching. Fern front view to show eyes full of admiration and love. Hear tree rustling above her, making her jump and shriek.]
Laurel [From above, can’t see him]: You may be a decent fighter, but you never pay enough attention. It’s going to get you killed.
[Fern looks up, camera pans up to see Laurel (fourteen years old, still has both eyes) sat in tree, looking at training field and smirking. Fern front view, looking up.]
Fern: Shut up! You’re only saying that because you’re fighting skills are awful!
[Laurel front view, who pouts and blushes.]
Laurel: I’m getting better. I’m just more comfortable with projectile weapons.
[Fern front view.]
Fern: That won’t do any good in close-range combat. Are you just going to hide in trees all the time?
[Fern side view, see Laurel jump down beside her, sulking.]
Laurel: Why are you here anyway? Our lesson isn’t for another three hours.
[Fern turns gaze back to training field, smiling. Laurel rolls his eyes.]
Laurel: You’re not one of those girls obsessed with marrying their own father are you?
Fern: Of course not! But look at the way he moves. He’s so confident and he never makes a mistake. Maybe if I watch him fight I’ll pick up his talent.
Laurel: He’s teaching, not fighting.
Fern: Yeah, yeah. What are you doing here?
Laurel [looks away]: Your mum’s looking for you.
Fern: Oh shoot! I was supposed to help carry the shopping.
[Back view of both/tree as Fern turns around and runs off screen. Laurel watches her go. Laurel front view as he turns head back round, sighing. He pulls a small parcel out his pocket. Close view of present to see has Fern’s name on it.]
Laurel: Coward.
[Laurel front view who looks back up. Change to Laurel back view to see Fern’s dad coming towards him. Screen suddenly goes black. Hear a woman’s scream.]
Woman: Why are you doing this, Laurel? Where’s Fern? Where is she!
[Laurel back view as Fern’s dad reaches him, putting both hands around his neck, murderous look on his face.]
Fern’s dad: This is all your fault!
[Fern’s dad steps back and raises sword. Laurel front view as it slashes his eye/face. Screen black as he screams.]
[Scene changes as Laurel startles awake, jumping slightly so can see a hint of scar over face/eye, hidden under his hair. He’s wrapped up in a blanket in a tree, his breath cold enough to see. Tree front view to see Laurel quite high up in it, near centre trunk. Tree is bare and the landscape around him covered lightly in snow. Early morning, still mostly dark. Laurel close up as he closes eye and lets out a shaky breath. Ruffles about under the blanket and pulls out the parcel with Fern’s name on it, now looking worn with age. Parcel view.]
Narrator: The memory that torments you every moment, but also keeps you moving.
[Laurel back view as he turns gaze to right, staring at a town/mountains in the distance.]
Narrator: Desperately trying to put things right.
[Opening credits.]
[Scene opens to Nat back view starting out the window. Snow is falling outside and can see the mountains are close, just beyond the town’s wall.]
Nat: You can’t be serious.
[Asha/Fern front view, who are both sat on a bed. Fern is staring to right side, thoughtful, while Asha gives an apologetic smile.]
Asha: I’m afraid so.
[Bird’s eye view of room to show they’re in an Inn. Room has three beds, one nearer to window (which Asha and Fern are sat on) one in middle and one near door. Agape is standing near door, fidgeting. Wolf is laid out on middle bed, sleeping. Nevan isn’t there. Nat back view as he turns around, glaring at Asha (who’s not on screen).]
Nat: You want to climb that thing?
[Nat back view so can see Asha/Fern.]
Asha: The ice seal is on that mountain. The locals say there’s a walkable way to it, created by their ancestors, but the temperature would kill us.
Nat [snorts]: Terrific.
[Agape/door front view as there’s a knock on the door. Agape jumps a little then struggles with the handle, finally getting it open. Nevan strolls in, looking cheerful.]
Nevan: Good morning!
[Nat front view.]
Nat: Why did you hire a three-bed room if you don’t bother sleeping here?
[Nat (left of screen) side view as Nevan (right of screen) reaches him, grinning.]
Nevan: Awww, did you miss me Nattie?
Nat: Hardly. Been selling your dirty little pictures again?
[Nevan has mock-hurt face.]
Nevan: Little pictures? I’m a professional artist you know. Those ‘pictures’ are worth a lot. Besides, the money earned from them paid for this room, free loader.
[Change to Nevan front view, can see Asha/Fern on bed behind him. Camera focus on Asha/Fern, Nevan blurred.]
Fern: Did you learn anything else?
[Nevan turns around to face them, now back view.]
Nevan: I was running some resistance errands. A few mentioned that an ice immortal came here about five years ago, went up the mountain, and came down again three days later. No one else has dared go near the seal in this lifetime. The path is there, but if you move too far up the mountain, you disappear, never to be seen again.
Nat [off screen]: So you either freeze or disappear. Sounds well guarded to me.
Asha: That ice immortal worries me. What if they came here to break the seal? We need to make sure.
Nat: By freezing to death?
Nevan: Don’t worry, I can take care of that. But we’ll still need warmer clothes. Does he fight?
[Nevan nods head at Agape, camera follows gaze. Fern/Asha front view.]
Asha: Errr…
[Nat front view, who scoffs.]
Nat: He can barely stand or talk let alone fight.
[Fern/Asha front view.]
Fern: I doubt you’ll be much better on a snowy mountain.
[Nevan front view, serious.]
Nevan: Okay, looks like Fern and I will distract anything that might be up there while Asha checks the seal. Nat is emergency back up, and Agape can pull any injured to safety.
[Nat front view.]
Nat: So, we’re doing nothing? Can’t we stay here then?
[Nevan (right)/Nat (left) side view as Nevan turns as face him.]
Nevan: No, we stay together. The King is after all of us, and we can’t afford to leave you behind.
[Nevan front view to see meaningful/penetrating stare. Nat front view as he gazes back then looks away, ashamed/guilty. Nevan front view who grins and claps hands together.]
Nevan: Right, be ready at the town entrance in fifteen minutes. I won’t be happy if I have to come looking for you.
[Bird’s eye view as Nevan walks and leaves the room. Nevan back view as camera follows him out of the Inn and into Etow’s streets. See citizens out, well wrapped up in thick coats, scarves, hats, gloves and boots, looking cheerful. It’s lightly snowing. The Inn is halfway down the main street (town’s entrance to right), near a crossroad. Nevan heads straight up onto another street, stopping in front of a small clothes store on the left (houses here are made of brick). Brief Nevan front view to show serious face then back view as he opens door and enters store. Store is empty of customers with only a young boy behind counter (straight ahead) about ten years old. Have racks of coats/trousers to right and tables of tops/hats/scarves to left. Young boy front view as he looks up, bored face breaking out into an excited grin.]
Boy: Nevan!
[Runs round counter. Nevan/boy side view (Nevan left, boy right) as he throws himself at Nevan, hugging him. Nevan laughs and squeezes him back.]
Nevan [teasing]: Do you try to squeeze all your customers to death, or is it just me?
[Nevan back view as boy steps back, grinning.]
Boy: Dad said you’d show up soon. Do you want me to get him?
[Boy back view as Nevan gives a strained smile.]
Nevan: That would be great, thanks Eli.
[Nevan/Eli side view as Eli nods and turns away. Bird’s eye view to see him head out of a door past the counter. Front view of coats rack (so can see Nevan beyond it) as Nevan walks towards it, looking through them and pulling some off, draping them over his left arm. Hear a door open and a man move into view from the right. Stops and stares at Nevan’s back, waiting.]
Nevan [without turning]: Are you mad too? Darrel was furious.
Man [arms crossed over chest]: Is that why you gave him the resistance?
[Close Nevan side view (his right side) who smiles sadly.]
Nevan: He would have left, taking half of our Carmina men with him. We can’t afford that now.
Man: That man’s vision is too narrow. If he’s leading us he’ll focus only on his hatred for the King and get us all killed.
[While man is talking Nevan turns to face him. Change to Nevan back view.]
Nevan: Which is why I’ve been visiting everyone. Darrel will be too…occupied soon to give orders. Carmina is going to be raided, he can decide how he deals with it. The other towns need to prepare for the main event.
[Man blinks, looking shocked.]
Man: You turned him into a decoy?
[Nevan front view, who looks tired.]
Nevan: He knows what his role is, and doesn’t care. I guess he thinks he’ll overthrow the King’s power there, prove himself a better leader than me, and march on Tempit with the full support of the resistance.
[Man snorts, Man front view.]
Man: He’s an idiot.
[Nevan front view, small sad smile.]
Nevan: Who knows? Maybe it will work.
[Nevan back view.]
Man: You’d want that?
[Camera stays as Nevan moves forward, past Man and towards hat table.]
Nevan: It’s better than what will probably happen.
[Man front view, his gaze straining to look at Nevan behind (slightly right) of him (left of screen).]
Man: So you’re betting everything on this new thing you’ve found.
[Nevan front view, fiddling with hats, can see man behind him, who turns around to face Nevan’s back.]
Nevan: Calling him a thing isn’t very friendly.
Man: Anything related to the King is dangerous.
Nevan: True, but their mission seems real, so why would he help stop Earl get the weapon if he was like him?
Man: You’re gambling everything.
Nevan: Hardly. The attack will happen the same, but now we might have a trump card.
Man: And if he isn’t?
[Nevan stops fiddling with hats and turns around. Change to Nevan front view, expression cold.]
Nevan: Then I’ll eliminate the threat, no matter who it is.
[Scene change to Nat close side view, who’s looking irritated/bored. Change to group front view; Nat to the right, arms crossed and tapping foot. Fern next to him, checking her sword for damage. Asha to the left, waiting calmly. Agape and wolf are pacing about in front of them, Agape following wolf to keep warm.]
Nat: He said fifteen minutes, where the hell is he?
[Hear a ‘You Hoo’. Change to Nevan front view waving at them (with left hand), coming down street towards them, carrying a bag/sack in right hand. He’s now wearing a thick coat and hat, gloves, scarf. Side view of group as he reaches them. Agape/wolf has stopped pacing and are near Asha. Nevan stops in front of Nat.]
Nat: You took half an hour, hypocrite!
Nevan: Now, now Nattie, calm down. I needed to get us some warm clothes after all.
[Nevan throws bag on floor in front of group.]
Nevan: Help yourself.
[Nevan back view as others rummage through bag, putting stuff on. Nat looks back in it and frowns.]
Nat: There’s an extra set.
[Nevan front view.]
Nevan: Really? Whoops, I guess I forgot I was already wearing mine. Never mind, just leave it here.
[Nat front view, frowning.]
Nat: Uh-
[Group side view. Nevan raises arm, pointing past town entrance.]
Nevan: Well no time to waste. Let’s get moving.
[Nevan sets off past them; others shake heads but follow. Fern glances at bag again but leaves it and follows. High angled front view of bag, wait a few seconds then see a pair of boots come into view (bottom of screen) in front of bag. Laurel close front view to see him staring at bag then look up to where group left. Bag back view as Laurel (only hand and feet/legs in view) bends slightly to pick it up. Lifts up so no longer on screen.]
Laurel: Thanks, Nevan.
[Scene change to show front view of gates/entrance to Carmina. Guards on duty, alert. Hear the sound of a large number of footsteps approaching.]
[Scene change to Darrel close side view (right side of face) looking determined. Further away side view to see Marie approach behind him (screen left). Darrel front view (so can see Marie behind).]
Darrel: Is everyone in position?
Marie: Yes, and we’ve received word the army’s reached the gates. Some of the citizens have already started leaving through the old woman’s house.
[Darrel scoffs.]
Darrel: Nevan shouldn’t have panicked them like this. Once we take the city they’ll just have to come back again. I would have kept them safe.
Marie: And when that happens, they’ll see why you make a better leader.
Darrel: Nevan is a coward, hiding away. You know who his grandfather is, can we really trust he wants to crush the King? His families profit would suffer. No, we need to make our stand and show them we’re serious.
[Scene change to Nana Neve’s front door as someone knocks on it. Door opens, change to Neve back view to see a man and his wife, holding a baby.]
Neve: Smart people. Come on, no time to waste.
Wife: Thank you.
[Front door (further back) view as family enters the house. Side view as Neve pokes head out, looking down either side of street.]
Neve: What fools. Lose your patience too soon and everything will be lost.
[Scene change back to gates/entrance, but from other side (in the town) as the soldiers come pouring into the town (bird’s eye view), waiting for orders. Standing before them is the twin magicians and the man from episode five (front view). Once the soldiers are lined up/crammed in the street the man speaks.]
Man: Your orders are simple. Arrest everyone in town, and kill any who resist. Search for any hidden tunnels and report any found to me im-
[Bird’s eye view. Interrupted by a loud battle cry as resistance members begin pouring out of houses/shops, attacking the crammed army before they can react. A few close side view shots of resistance members fighting soldiers. Once soldiers have recovered from the surprise, they begin fighting back, but being beaten. Close up of man, who rolls eyes and unsheathes sword, joining the fight. Front view of twin magicians as they lift hands and jet of water/fire is released. Near door entrances hear resistance members scream when caught in the blast. Side view of some resistance members as they back away, trying to run. Darrel side view.]
Darrel: Stay mingled with the soldiers! They can’t attack you if you’re too close to their allies.
[Suddenly raises his sword in guard position as sword clashes down on his. Darrel back view to see man has attacked him.]
Man: So you’re in charge here.
[Darrel/Man side view as they parry each other. Marie side view of her fighting nearby. Kills her soldier with a thrust in ribs and looks at Darrel/camera, worried. Darrel/man side view as fight a little longer. Man thrusts/stabs at Darrel, who dodges and lunges back. Man blocks, swords locked. Closer view as both growl at each other then break apart. Darrel back view as stops few feet away from man. Change to front view as readies sword again, focused. Further away front view to see a soldier run at him from the left of screen, slashing his side. Darrel doubles over, clutching at wound. Marie front view.]
Marie: No!
[Darrel face front view, shocked/pained look. Further back front view as he goes down to knees. Marie front view to see her trying to reach him but being blocked/attacked by soldiers. Man back view moving closer to Darrel who is struggling to his feet.]
Man: You people were fools to take what the King wants most. [Raises sword]. Now he’ll put all his effort into crushing you.
[Swings sword right to left, bringing to side of Darrel’s neck and through (who was still getting up), cutting his head off, which flies off left of screen. Marie front view who stops in horror, pan down to see head near her feet. Back up to face as she drops her sword. A sword tip pierces through her ribs/chest. Blood gurgling from mouth as she falls. Man front view, splattered in blood. See a few crowd shots to show shock of resistance members and renewed attack of soldiers. Man front view.]
Man: Kill them all!
[Scene change to front view of Neve’s front door (from the inside) as it’s kicked open. Four soldiers come rushing in, swords pointing at Neve (not visible)/camera. Man follows behind them, sword sheathed and looking relaxed/satisfied.]
Man: Where is it, old woman?
[Neve front view (can see tips of swords pointed at her on screen), who is calmly knitting, not looking up.]
Neve: If you want the hideout, go to the other entrance through the ‘Imagination’s supplier’ shop. I don’t want you messing up my house.
[Man front view, looking annoyed.]
Man: Listen woman, this town is under arrest, you-
[Neve front view as she looks up, eyes piercing and eerie. Man front view who stops talking, looking fearful. Neve front view.]
Neve: I have helped the two sides neutrally. Don’t tempt me to tip that balance in their favour because you couldn’t keep your place. Now, leave me. If you want to hurt the citizens that escaped do it through another route, but I will not help you.
[Man further back view so can see other soldiers trembling, swords wavering and glancing back at man, unsure. Man swallows, trying to be dignified as he signals men to back off. Neve front view as hear sounds of men leaving the house, door slams shut. Neve close lower face view.]
Neve: Now, how will the boy react to this?
[Scene merges into Nevan side view, walking in snow, surrounded by a barrier. Looks amused. When scene completely Nevan, hear him speak.]
Nevan: Are you always this graceful Nattie? Or is it just for our benefit?
[Nat side view, who turns head to glare behind him (screen left). Then see him suddenly pitch forward in surprise and vanish from view as he trips. Hear a thud. Nevan side view, who laughs.]
Nevan: What’s that, number eight? My barrier won’t help if you keep getting soaked and die from pneumonia.
[Group side view (Nat climbing to feet) to show walking/climbing up mountain path, surrounded by Nevan’s barrier. Fern side view, smiling.]
Fern: I don’t remember you being such a klutz before.
[Asha side view.]
Asha: I imagine the further away he is from his comfort zone, the worse his co-ordination is.
[Nat side view, now back on feet.]
Nat: Would you people shut up! How much longer will this take?
[Group side view.]
Nevan: Well, judging the distance from the mountain size it should take a few days. But we’re already further in then we should be. If we don’t stop, I think we’ll reach it in a day or so.
Nat: If we don’t stop we’ll arrive worn out for the battle.
Fern: And if we do stop we could freeze. I doubt Nevan can keep the barrier up when he’s asleep.
Nevan: I don’t sleep much, if you guys want to stop for a rest I don’t mind.
Asha: And have your magic exhausted? It’s the best defence we have.
Nat: As opposed to everyone else being too tired to fight properly? If we can’t fight at full strength his defence magic will get worn out anyway.
[Fern/Asha side view, who both frown, thoughtful. Nevan side view.]
Nevan: How about we stop if we find a suitable place, and if not we keep moving?
[Group side view as they nod. Change to low bird’s eye view as camera whizzes ahead of the path, moving through/up mountain until come to a cave entrance. Go inside, pitch black. See a figure stirring in the shadows, moans/shrieks in pain. Voice of woman.]
Woman: Nebula, you bitch, have you finally returned?
[See a slight shimmer of a barrier behind her. Figure looks up. Close up of one (left) eye and some of face (left side of camera) to see badly scarred, eye a pale blue.]
[Change to cave front view to see sky darken and then change to early morning darkness. Scene change to Nevan close face side view, looking tired/serious. Change to further back side view to show he’s sitting in a small sheltered canopy with others asleep around him. Nat to his right (top of screen), Agape nearby. Fern and wolf in front (left of screen) with Asha past Fern. Barrier still up and glowing. Back to Nevan face close side view, who stares down. Back view to show he’s looking at unlit fire.]
Nevan: Looks like we won’t be getting any help from fire while on this mountain.
[Nevan other side view/Nat front view to show Nevan looking at him.]
Nevan: Or any other element.
[Brief glimpse of Agape, then back to Nevan side view (first one).]
Nevan: Good job my magic isn’t elemental, or we’d be dead already.
Fern [not on screen]: Do you always talk to yourself?
[Nevan jumps and looks up. Change to back view to see Fern sat up behind unlit fire, kind smile on face.]
Fern: Are they always such gloomy thoughts?
[Nevan front view, who doesn’t smile back.]
Nevan: I am a rebel leader, you know. I would be dead by now if I didn’t plan for the worse, every breathing moment.
[Fern front view, who nods.]
Fern: You’re taking a big risk, coming with us.
[Nevan front view, who laughs.]
Nevan: You have no idea. But it was something that needed to happen, you just gave me a way to do it. In the end, it was always going to be a gamble. Today will reveal whether that gamble was worth me giving up everything else.
[Nevan stabs his pole on ground and uses it to stand up. He smiles. Fern front view to see her concern/understanding. Ground view as Nevan begins knocking pole against ground. Nevan front view, giving his usual care-free grin.]
Nevan: Alright everyone! Time to continue the holiday.
[Keeps banging pole. Asha side view as she opens eyes and sits up. Agape side view as he lifts head and blinks. Nat side view, whose head is face down on ground, doesn’t move. Wolf side view to see it stretch front and back legs, yawning. Nevan back view, who is moving towards Nat, still banging pole on ground.]
Nevan: Who’s brave enough to help wake the beast?
[Nat slightly angled down back view so can see Nevan’s pole hitting ground in front of him (Nevan’s feet visible). Nevan starts to tap on ground, then Nat, then ground etc. Change to pole back view as Nat’s hand shoots out, grabbing pole and yanking it. Nat further back view to see Nevan stumble/fall to ground. Nat front view as sits up, alert. Back view as he notices Nevan, complaining on ground. Nat front view, frowning.]
Nat: What the hell are you doing? I thought we were being attacked!
[Nat back view to see Nevan climbing to feet.]
Nevan: Wow, that was faster than usual. I guess even you are battle ready.
[Nat front view as gets up, rubbing eyes.]
Nevan: I suggest we eat as we move. We don’t want to take too long reaching the seal.
[Nat grumbles under breath and moves off screen from right.]
[Scene change to front view of cave. See sky/surroundings become lighter until midday. See group come into view (back view), staring at entrance. Group front view. Fern takes off her gloves and grips her sword.]
Fern: This feels ominous.
Nevan: Is everyone ready?
[Nevan releases his barrier and everyone shivers, cautiously walking towards the cave. Side view of cave entrance as Fern begins to enter first, but Nevan pulls her back, shakes head, and creates a barrier in front of himself, going in first. Fern follows, then Asha, Nat, wolf and Agape.]
[Group back view inside cave, some light shining from outside. They stay close to entrance, backs to it. Can see ice glittered cave, covered in icicles, frozen white rock with ominous shadows cast by rocks/pillars.]
Narrator: We risk everything on small moments. Moments that will shape the entire future.
[Front view of shadowed figure, head bent to right side (screen left) and body huddled on throne.]
Woman [croaky/creepy voice]: You’re not Nebula. What do you want?
[Group front view, who freeze in shock at voice. There’s a moment of hesitation, then Asha steps forward. Nevan automatically places a barrier in front of her.]
Asha: We mean no harm. Are you the guardian of the ice seal? We’re travellers, coming to check the seal is safe and intact. Once we are sure, we will leave.
[While Asha is talking change to Asha back view to show shadowed woman in front, slowly getting up and moving closer. As Asha finishes talking woman steps into light. Woman front view, white hair/skin, icy pale blue left eye with scars covering right side of face and eye (screen left). Expression blank. Wearing a white gown/dress, stained and tattered.]
Woman: The seal?
[Face changes from blank to rage.]
Woman: So you do know Nebula. You’ve come to break the seal!
[Asha front view.]
Asha: No, we-
[Asha back view as woman raises arm, ice forming around it and swings it down at Asha. Asha front view as hand comes in contact with barrier, Asha puts arms over face/head instinctively. Ice scatters into small sharp pieces, attacking barrier. Nevan front view who grits teeth. Group back view as Asha jumps back into line with the others.]
Woman: I will not be tricked again! Any who come here must die!
Narrator: Moments that change our purpose in life.
[Scene switch to Laurel side view, struggling against mountain weather, determined face. Change to front view of Asha, then Fern, Nat, Agape and Nevan as narrator talks.]
Narrator: Moments that change who we are.
[Group back view. Then woman front view, raising both arms and coating them in ice.]
Narrator: Moments we might not live through.
[Ending credits.]
[Episode preview.]
Extra/Omake: The hidden stalker
[Scene opens to Laurel in the tree. Close Laurel front view as he shivers. Scene change to group in Inn room. Agape/door front view as there’s a knock on the door. Agape jumps a little then struggles with handle, finally getting the door open. Nevan strolls in, looking cheerful.]
Nevan: Good morning!
[Nat front view.]
Nat: Why did you hire a three-bed room if you don’t bother sleeping here?
[Nat (left) side view as Nevan (right) reaches him, grinning.]
Nevan: Well, it was for Fern’s stalker, but he decided sleeping in a tree in the freezing cold was much better.
Nat: [blinks]: Wait…what? What stalker?
Nevan: You better be careful Nat, or he’ll steal her away.
Nat: [blushing]: W-what? I couldn’t care less what that girl does.
[Nat stomps past Nevan, door slams. Fern front view, who looks anime perplexed/dot eyes.]
[Screen black, title appears ‘The bag’]
[Group side view. Nevan raises arm, pointing past town entrance.]
Nevan: Well no time to waste. Let’s get moving.
[Nevan sets off past them; others shake heads but follow. Fern glances at bag again but leaves it and follows. High angled front view of bag, wait a few seconds then see a pair of boots come into view (bottom of screen) in front of bag. Front view of a random kid as he grins and picks up bag.]
Kid: Yeah, free stuff!
[Kid back view as Laurel comes up behind him.]
Laurel: Hey.
[Kid turns around. Laurel/kid side view as Laurel punches him in stomach and takes bag.]
Laurel: That’s mine, little brat.
[Kid falls on floor, tears streaming down face as Laurel walks off, looking manic. Kid close face view.]
Kid: B-but it was just left on the floor.
[Screen goes black, title appears ‘Laurel’s journey up the mountain’.]
[Open to scene of group going up mountain. Nevan side view.]
Nevan: How about we stop if we find a suitable place, and if we don’t we keep moving?
[Group side view as they nod. Change to low bird’s eye view as camera whizzes backwards a few moments so can see Laurel struggling in weather. Laurel side view, squinting through blizzard, face red raw and teeth chattering.]
Laurel [thoughts]: Maybe I should have just joined the group after all.
[Change to cartoon/chibi type diagram (side view) of group as dots/name tags (right side of screen) and Laurel on far left. See barrier around group dots, letting them move smoothly, while Laurel’s dot keeps faltering and stopping until group dots move further ahead so he disappears off screen.]
[Screen black. Title appears ‘The other stalker’. Scene opens to fire caves. Firo is sat on floor, staring at flames/screen and sulking.]
Firo: They must be in Leila’s domain; I can’t see anything.
[Arlen comes into view, hovering by his right shoulder (left of screen).]
Arlen: You need a new hobby.
[Firo swats him away with his hand, sending him off screen. His face now serious/depressed.]
Firo: After what Nebula did, she won’t be in a good mood.
[Arlen back view, who can see Firo side view in front, as Firo begins to rant.]
Firo: If these people die, I’ll never get my screen time! Oh, why Nebula, did you have to love that creep and do his bidding? Leila is going to steal my episodes!
[Arlen sweat drop.]
Arlen: You really need a new hobby.
[End.]
