Poem ideas

20:127

Releasing the kindness

encased within,

touching skin like a snowflake

and melting into hope.

20:129

Clinging to some jumbled

phrases, shaping them

into meaning.

Is this helping? Or

highlighting something

that should have

stayed buried, and

stomped beneath the dirt.

20:130

Pressure,

you can’t fail

or you’ll be weeded out,

forgotten,

gone.

Poem ideas

20:126

The world is ending,

and people still won’t

help themselves.

They are too set in their ways.

They will complain,

resist, until they

choke and sink forever.

20:127

Releasing the kindness

encased within,

touching skin like a snowflake

and melting into hope.

Jacob Polley

Jacob Polley talks about working with a musician to prepare his poems for radio.

He also mentions theatrical productions of poetic works, which I want to research further in the future.

Salena Godden

Salena Godden is a spoken word performer/poet who is dedicated to making poetry more well-known. In her interview with The Poetry Society Podcast she talks about LIVEwire, Out-Spoken and her experiences with collaborating with DJs to add music to her poetry performances.

LIVEwire and Out-Spoken

These are more examples of Spoken Word poetry rather than poetry with music, but sometimes the poets are accompanied by musicians/music during the live performances. I still feel its worth mentioning them because its a clear step towards poetry with music.

Both LIVEwire and Out-spoken dedicate resources to live performances and events, as well as ‘albums’ of poetry/poets, making poetry more accessible through audio. It’s great to see in the UK, and I’ll be following them from now on to see what more they can accomplish to make poetry more mainstream.
